My name is Lenin Jiménez. I am proud to serve as both a CoffeeWorks Volunteer Coordinator and Community Guide. I am 18 years old and just completed my senior year of high school here in El Airo. I look forward to continuing my education in the provincial capital, Loja, in the field of engineering. I have four siblings to whom I am the eldest. I enjoy living in El Airo because of the peace and tranquility of everyday life. The weather and the natural beauty are also inviting. I look forward to welcoming and working with volunteers because of the cultural and intellectual exchange that will occur and to share more of the place I call home.

Willan Rojas

My name is Willan Rojas. I look forward to showing you around as a CoffeeWorks Community Guide. I also serve as the organization´s Secretary. Check back for my bio, coming soon! I am 22 years old and my day job is as an early childhood education facilitator. I also study animal and agricultural administration. I want to see El Airo, its people and its coffee become better known. I am excited to have experiences with different cultures. I love the views, waterfalls, organic production and the kind people of El Airo. I think volunteers will too.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Host Families:

Blanca Torres

My name is Blanca Torres. My family and I will be hosting volunteers in the barrio of La Huaca. I am also the acting Treasurer for the organization. My husband, Vitailiano and I have two children, Dyana and Heriberto.  I am 42 years old and moved to El Airo from  the neighboring community of Tundurama, when I married my husband. We primarily work in agriculture and also have a small tienda. I look forward to meeting people from different places through CoffeeWorks and introducing them to the beauty of El Airo. There is nothing like breathing the pure air of El Airo!  I also look forward to sharing some of our values and customs and learning those of different countries.

Manuel Jiménez

My name is Manuel Jiménez. I am excited to be serving as a CoffeeWorks Host Farmer and as the organization´s Vice President. I am 39 years old and outside of living and working in Spain for a time, am a lifetime resident of El Airo. My wife, Marta, and I have 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. I enjoy working with and harvesting coffee because it is my family’s primary source of income along with our small store. As a Host Farmer I look forward to sharing more about my favorite crop, coffee, with volunteers. I think volunteers too will enjoy the security and tranquility of El Airo as I do.

 

 

 

 

Pastor Ramos

My name is Pastor Ramos. I am a CoffeeWorks Host Farmer in the barrio of La Guaca Bajo. I am 41 years old. My wife Rosa and I have five children. Working in agriculture is my life and my passion and the reason I wanted to be involved with the CoffeeWorks project. I enjoy working with and harvesting all types of crops including coffee, corn and yucca. The production of coffee is the most interesting to me as it produces the greatest financial return. The tranquility of El Airo is noticed and appreciated by all, especially me. Come and enjoy!

 

 

 

 

José Olegario Jiménez

My name is José Olegario Jiménez. I am a CoffeeWorks Host Farmer. I am 43 years old and have worked in agriculture since I was a youth living in El Airo. I look forward to the economic stimulation CoffeeWorks could have on El Airo. I enjoy working in organic agriculture because of both the financial and health benefits it provides. The air of El Airo is pure and clean, without contamination which is also a benefit to our health and, in my opinion, one of the perks of living here.
